We are happy to announce the addition of two more wonderful bands to the Pickin' in the Pines 10th Anniversary lineup! The Mars Hillbillies great musicianship, polished harmonies, extensive repertoire, and unique sound make them one of Flagstaff’s favorite bluegrass bands. In addition to fine-tuned gospel and bluegrass harmonies, they also perform original songs, and favorites written by the likes of Robert Earl Keen, Merle Haggard, Greg Brown and Fred Eaglesmith. Viola & the Brakemen bring a sensational mix of original music written by Brian White and inspired by the Southwest. When you hear their music, think of the old southwest, the birth of the cowboy, the trains, the steam, and the thrown stones skipping ponds that ripple free. Visit our lineup page for more details.

The Knockabouts’ have a perfect blend of time-honored tradition, bawdy good taste, rowdy energies and smooth harmonies wrapped up in the best of authentic Celtic music. Pickin’ in the Pines 2014 band contest winners Cisco & the Racecars have their roots in traditional bluegrass music, but this six-piece band mixes popular, old-time, and acoustic country tunes that unite for an exciting musical fusion. Beppe Gambetta is coming back in 2015 to join the Pickin' in the Pines lineup and to host the Beppe Gambetta Guitar Camp, intensive flatpicking guitar workshops! These three distinctive workshops will explore a fascinating journey in flatpicking techniques viewed from the broad perspective of Italian guitarist Beppe Gambetta. Beppe lives on the road 270 days out of the year, and gets his main musical inspiration from his traveling life. While his style is deeply rooted in American traditional flatpicking, Beppe has also done extensive research into the old musical forms of Europe, which inform the basis for his compositions. Widely acknowledged as one of Europe’s foremost guitarists, Beppe Gambetta is a true master innovator on the acoustic guitar. Both as a solo act and in collaboration with top-flight musicians around the globe, Beppe has a style that’s memorable both for its deeply emotive tone and for its technical brilliance. Beppe approaches his music from a unique stance, as an Italian musician in love with both American roots music as well as the music of his native country. He seamlessly bridges the shores of the two continents, creating a musical fusion where American and Ligurian tradition, emigration songs and folk ballads interact, weaving a deep dialogue beyond rigid classification.
